- April event “Towards COP26” April 16, 2021admin
On Thursday 22nd April 7 – 8pm, the speaker will be Ewan Jones, a chartered consultant engineer working in energy efficiency and renewable energy in buildings. In his own time, Ewan has completed a low carbon refurbishment of a 110-year old house and is the Environment Officer for St George’s Church in Leeds.
Ewan will explain the broad strategy being developed by our Governments to decarbonise buildings, transport, industry and power generation and how these sectors are increasingly inter-linked.
As always, there will be the opportunity for questions and discussion and sharing ideas how we can engage with our politicians.

- Letter from the Presbytery Clerk March 12, 2021admin
FROM THE PRESBYTERY OF MELROSE AND PEEBLES
TO ASHKIRK, SELKIRK AND ETTRICK AND YARROW PARISH CHURCHES
CITATION TO ATTEND MEETING OF PRESBYTERY ON 23 MARCH 2021 BY ZOOM
TO BE READ TO THE CONGREGATIONS AT MORNING WORSHIP ON SUNDAYS 14 AND 21 MARCH 2021 OR OTHERWISE CIRCULATED TO OR MADE KNOWN TO THE CONGREGATIONS BEFORE THE PRESBYTERY MEETING ON 23 MARCH 2021.
At a special meeting of Presbytery to be held on Tuesday 23 March 2021 at 7pm by ZOOM, the Presbytery Planning Implementation Committee will report that the congregations of Ashkirk, Selkirk and Ettrick and Yarrow voted in favour of the Basis of Linking of these congregations. Presbytery will then be invited to give its approval to the Basis of Linking. An appeal against the decision of Presbytery can only be raised during the Presbytery meeting, by a Kirk Session or member of the Presbytery, and only on certain procedural grounds.
The three congregations are hereby cited to attend the above meeting of Presbytery for their own interest. This means that anyone who is a member of one of these congregations may attend the meeting of Presbytery and may speak (but not vote) on the proposed Presbytery approval of the Basis of Linking.
If you would like to attend, the ZOOM invitation link can be obtained from your Session Clerk or Minister/Interim Moderator. It would be helpful if the Session Clerk or Minister/Interim Moderator could let the Presbytery Clerk know the names of those planning to attend to ensure that the ZOOM system allows admittance to the meeting.
Rev Victoria Linford
Clerk to the Presbytery of Melrose and Peebles

- Result of vote on linking March 6, 2021admin
Result of vote on linking (March 2021)
The votes for or against the proposed linking of Ettrick and Yarrow with Ashkirk and Selkirk have now been counted by Presbytery, and can now be announced as follows:
Overall: for 314, against 7, with 2 spoilt votes. (97.8% of the vote)
Ashkirk: for 27, against 1 (turn out 80%)
Ettrick and Yarrow: for 87, against 3 (turn out 62.5%)
Selkirk: for 200, against 3, with 2 invalid votes. (turn out 64.3%)
This will now go forward to Presbytery on the 23rd March for its approval. It will then move to 121 (Church of Scotland Head Office) for its concurrence and should come back to Presbytery for the second time on May 4th, so this will be the date of linking (assuming there are no appeals).
We give God thanks that He has led us this far and trust He will continue to lead us through this next stage.
