    Christmas Angels for 2020

    We would like to share the angels’ message of Good News to our community by making and giving out knitted angels along the lines of this project: www.christmasangel.net

    We plan to deliver the angels with their message of love and hope to our care homes (for residents and staff), to the Food Bank/Fresh Start Borders to be included in their parcels through December, to the BGH … as widely as possible as numbers allow.

    Please join in if you knit or crotchet. Patterns can be picked up from Scott’s Selkirk shop, downloaded from here, or by emailing Anne, Lynda or Elissa. Completed angels should be handed in to one of us or to Scott’s Selkirk by 4th December.  We will tie on the message labels and arrange for the bundles to be delivered, in a safe way.

    Please encourage your knitting contacts to get knitting and passing on the Good News of Christmas.

    Anne Bethune, Lynda McCraw, Elissa Jones

  • When will our church building re-open? July 25, 2020admin

    When will our church building re-open?

    Once we receive the latest Guidance from Church of Scotland headquarters (which will follow Scottish Government instructions), our Covid sub group and Kirk Session will be working very hard to put into action all that needs to happen before our church or church hall can open safely. There needs to be lots of careful preparation before we can give you a date for opening, though we hope to have a better idea in a few weeks.  Please be patient with us and pray that we get things right.

  • Letter from Margaret June 19, 2020admin

    Letter from Margaret, 19th June 2020

    Dear All

    The Congregational Board met this past week and has decided not to hold the Stated Annual Meeting this year. This meeting gives members the opportunity to ask questions regarding the accounts and bring up any matters that they would like the Session to take forward.

    You can download a copy of the 2019 accounts by clicking here. If you have any questions then please contact Lynda the treasurer or myself.  If you have any matters that you would like the Session to think about then please let me know.

    You will have noticed that the Scottish Government has given permission for churches to open for individual private prayer. The Church has given guidelines to Kirk Sessions to enable them to make safe provision for any opening. We have a small group which is looking at the guidelines and working out the best and safest way forward.

    Please let me know of any concerns you have – I’m only a phone call or email away!

    Kind regards
    Margaret

  • Prayer for Sunday 26th April April 25, 2020admin

    Prayer for Sunday 26th April

    We are invited to join with Christians across the world to light a candle in our window at 7pm this evening, and say this prayer:

    Lord, we are those who journey
    And who find that journey hard today.
    We are those who journey
    And long to find our hope renewed.
    Lord in your mercy,
    Hear our prayer.

    Lord, whether in our own company or with companions beside us,
    We journey on.
    Whether sure, or unsure, as to our journey’s end,
    Come beside us through the risen Lord.
    Lord in your mercy,
    Hear our prayer.

    Lord, we pray for others;
    For carers of the living and of the dying;
    For the bereaved and for the anxious;
    For those fearing loss of work and of business.
    Lord in your mercy,
    Hear our prayer.

    Lord, we pray for scientists and researchers;
    For those seeking to understand the challenge we face;
    For those creating potential vaccines;
    For those advising decision-makers.
    Lord in your mercy,
    Hear our prayer.

    Lord, we pray for those who shape our common life:
    In local Councils and in Scottish Government
    And in the Government of the United Kingdom.
    Grant to them wisdom, compassion and understanding.
    Lord in your mercy,
    Hear our prayer.

    Lord, we pray for your Kingdom to come
    And for your will to be done,
    On earth
    As it is in heaven.
    Lord in your mercy,
    Hear our prayer.
