ReachOut started in 2007 as a group for women and our aims continue to be the developing and deepening of relationships, the opportunity to enjoy fellowship together, to have fun, and to explore issues of faith in a friendly and open environment.

We have had a very varied programme over the last ten years of monthly participative evenings including physical activity (do you prefer salsa, ceilidh or trash drumming?), preparing and producing Christmas worship from scratch, creativity (from hand felted wool) and fundraising for a chosen charity (Wicked Soups & Puds).

In 2017-2018, we decided to try something different with our programme and instead of monthly evening meetings we planned to strengthen bonds of friendship socially through enjoying food together, as well as continuing the popular small group Bible studies in Spring.

The Italian meal in September 2017 and Curry night in November 2017 were convivial evenings, when around 40 people enjoyed great food and company – catered for by a group of ladies in September, with the men organising the curry night.

In February 2018, our guests for a Lenten Feast were all the church leaders (in the widest sense) from the town and valleys. The ReachOut planning group wanted to give them a blessing for all the work they do in our churches and community. The highlight was the 5 young people from our Sunday Gang who acted as hosts and waiters for the evening.

The Bible Study groups in January used a film of John’s gospel, created by the Lumo Project, as the basis for discussion. The final 2 sections of this will be shown during Holy Week.

A group is going to return to Minsteracres for a weekend retreat in May, with the theme of Sacred Journey. A walk is planned for June as another opportunity for deepening relationships.
